Background Sateen 60" x 90"

After making large custom order background pieces for many years, I've added a few to my website inventory. These oversized sateens are 60" x 90" and provide a time-saving and consistent background for your quilt.

Ultra Sateen Yard

Made from the highest quality fabric, the ultra sateen adds luster to your quilt, casting a brilliant sheen to areas you want to specifically highlight. The ultra sateen will also provide more emphasis on your quilted designs.

Metallic Fat Quarter

Lumiere metallics from Jacquard are 'fused' into the hand dye to create a vibrant, durable and long-lasting effect. The metallic leaves beautiful designs on both sides, providing more choices. Fabrics used: Hoffman cotton, kona or pimatex.

Oversized Sateen (36" x 60")

These sateens come in 60" widths instead of the usual 45" widths. Because of the larger size, they are able to contain more colors, all in one piece. One good use of these fabrics is to cut them into strips for borders. They are also good for backgrounds or wholecloths.

Bamboo/Cotton Yard

Made from a bamboo and cotton blend, this fabric is softer than cotton and more breathable for clothing. Bamboo prevents bacteria and odors from forming and is hypoallergenic, organic and biodegradable. Bamboo also protects the skin from 98% of the sun's UV rays.

Jacquard Yard

Jacquards are great for all kinds of color and quilting.

Silk Yard

This soft hand dye uses Kaufman's Radiance fabric -- 45% silk and 55% cotton with a smooth side.

Velveteen Yard

Soft, cotton velveteen good for just about any type of project.

Burst Yard

These multicolored yards are great for backgrounds and especially effective in Hawaiian quilts and convergence quilts.

Shibori Yard

Japanese method of creating folds and dying with many colors, resulting in a beautiful blending of colors. Can have a watercolor or painterly effect. Great for sky, trees, grass, land, rivers and anything that needs a directional line.

Discharge Yard

Bleach is used to take away color and reveal the colors underneath. This technique is called discharging, creating a foggy and artistic effect.

Wrinkle Fat Quarter

Fused to a soft, drapeable knit interfacing, this hand dye's wrinkled effect adds texture and 3-D depth.

Muticolor Yard

These fabrics are especially good for blending from one color to another and showing a range of value all on one piece of fabric. Each yard is a one-of-a-kind design. Fabric used: pimatex, kona or prima cotton.

Black and White Yard

These black and white patterns can be overdyed with any combination of the standard dye colors in the fiber reactive dyes palette.
